My 'cup of coffee' this Monday afternoon..

I was sleepy today and tried to find something to amuse myself, then I found the following proverbs, ‘hiding’ on some corners of my desk calendar, which I did not noticed before…. So I share my ‘cup of coffee’ this sleepy afternoon..

(perhaps these proverbs are translated from another language i.e. Chinese because I found some of them quite funny..)

Idea – idea comes when you are not aware [is it?]

Time – never put off till tomorrow what you can do today [true. Try my best no to procrastinate.. but sometimes I can’t help it]

Imitation – no man ever yet became great by imitation [perhaps what this proverbs mean is that we must be ‘original’ or ‘be ourself. Or don’t ‘ciplak-menciplak’…LOL’]

Leadership – a leader is one who knows the way, goes the way and shows the way [some call themselves ‘leaders’ but ‘lost’ along the way because of stupid mistakes or too proud of themselves…]

Education – when the student is ready, the master appears. [What?]

Optimism – the pessimist see the difficulty in every opportunity; the optimist see the opportunity in every difficulty [I agree 100%]

Innovation – success or failure, is often determined on the drawing board [errr… well… yea… (a bit confued)]

Teamwork – where there is unity, there is always victory [tho’, sometimes there will be some ‘kaki tumpang’ in a team, right?]

Wisdom – wisdom is to understand that the world is ever-changing [do you need wisdom to realize that the world is ever-changing??]

Motivation – satisfaction lies in the effort not the attainment. Full effort is full victory. [I might agree there…]

Tenacity – giving up is the ultimate tragedy… [okay..]

Attitude – there is nothing wether good or bad, but your attitude make it so. [err… yes… yeah..]

So there you go… hey! It’s Monday folks!!! Yippeeeee…..

Penampang's Servay Hypermarket Burned Down...

Today is a sad day, at least for me...

Firstly, I've just read in Rin-chan's blog that one of our fave hero in Chilwu The Mighty (Korean drama currently playing in KBS World) has died from an accident..

Then, this morning I read in the newspaper that my favourite hypermarket - Servay - at Penampang Baru has burned down...

I never knew there was such a thing though..

I have never come across such ‘dress codes’ when I was playing cricket at school and college. For all of you who don’t know, the traditional cricket attire is all white. Never did I remember my manager, coaches or captain to instruct us to wear knickers (or underwear) with the same colour as the pants. Once, I saw someone wearing an underwear which is too ‘revealing’ under the pants, but nobody made it an issue. I even wear an array of colours (hahaha) but it never did me any harm (though don't think of me purposely wants to show my undies yaa... hahaha)

Perhaps the Olympics certain codes to follow on dressing or grooming of an athlete…

It's Monday Folks... so Be Happy... Yippeeee!!!

As usual, been very busy the last couple of days (if not a week!!).. thus a lack of ramblings of mine…

During that time until the weekend and today, a lot of things happened..

Angry : It’s been almost 5 days that we have water problems in my house. They said it’s only for 2-days, but now it’s already more than that!! Last Tuesday we were forced to ‘evacuate’ ourselves to my mom’s house. Lucky it’s not that far away. I cannot seem to be able to carry out my normal daily life if there’s no water, especially to have a proper bath and washing. I remember during school days (hostel life), we use to have regular water problems. It was troublesome, but it was good also as I have learned (and perfected) the skill of bathing with minimal water. Yea, I can bath with half of a medium sized pail. Though, some friends can sleep during the night without taking a bath!!!

Mad and furious : my maid of two days. We have every reason to believe that she has done something to JJ (it was later confirmed by my mother last Sunday. But she did not see it according to her but JJ cried loudly at one time he was with the maid and she suspected something amiss). We noticed that there’s a small wound just below his nose. We actually left JJ and the maid at my mom’s house (after our evacuation due to water problem) and were thinking of staying there until the weekend since my mom is alone also. Furthermore, on Wednesday’s afternoon, she asked if she can go home to take care of her mom who is sick. It turns out that she is lying after my dear wifey called her so-called ‘mum’. But, she was very adamant and wants to go home. So we sent her back. We only noticed the wound on Thursday morning when I was bathing JJ and get him ready for ‘school’. We are supposed to pick her up on Saturday afternoon (at her request), but we never did…

Happy and relieved : The English Premier League officially commence with it’s first games of the season. Liverpool managed to edge past Sunderland, thanks to a beautidul strike by none other than, possibly the best striker in the world currently, Fernando Torres. Although it was onlt the first game of the season, in my opinion, Liverpool’s play was a bit ‘depressing’ to me. Their passing and game play, I would say, is quite poor of their standard. Though Fernando Torres is quite anonymous the whole game through, he took his only chance at the 83^rd minute with a superb shot into the back of the net. Despite my worries, a win is a win and 3 points is in the bag. C’mon you Reds!!!!

Sad : Malaysia’s only Gold medal prospect – Lee Chong Wei – lost to Lin Dan. I, and perhaps all Malaysians, was hoping Lee Chong Wei gives his best shot at the gold medal. But it didn’t materialized as Lin Dan was in his elements and won in straight set. He outplayed Chong Wei and IMO, Chong Wei loose his focus. He kept on doing unforced errors. Lin Dan was good also in his psychology games e.g. changing the shuttle cock on each serves. The partisan Chinese crowd also, I believe, was also a factor. BUT, well done to Chong Wei as he becomes our nations first medalist, perhaps the only one in Beijing 2008.

Shocked and later bemused : Today, heard from a colleague of mine that there is a ‘bomb scare’ at Centre Point. Apparently her husband is working there. Don’t really know the overall story. Must have been a hoax though as I haven’t heard any explosion yet (my office is a good distance away from Centrepoint). Or that it is just a ‘bomb drill’, similar to ‘fire drill’ perhaps. But what amused me is that when I peeked through the window, during the purported ‘bomb scare’ and that the main doors of the complex are locked, some people are waiting outside the ‘entrance’ (if my sight doesn’t fail me). I told my friend “gilakah tunggu di luar pintu.. macamana kalau betul-betul meletup?”. Nah, we just wait for the news tomorrow – must be a hoax of that my friend’s husband misinformed?...

Something about Merdeka Month...

It's already middle of the month, but I realised that it's very rare to find cars, motorcycle etc. flying the Jalur Gemilang. In and around KK, I mean.

If I look back about more than 5 years ago, during Bulan Merdeka, there will be lots, if not all, cars and motocycles especially, adorned with Jalur Gemilang, including our very own Sabah flags. At that time, it will be rare to see cars without at least one small flag. But, nowadays, its the other way round. There's lesser and lesser each year.

I wonder why? Is it because of the current political situation in our country? or is it because there are less free flags given nowadays? or that the cost of the flags are more expensive now (due to sellers taking advantage as many people wants to buy it during Merdeka Month)? Perhaps, there's a long list of reasons...

I am a football fan and I support Liverpool FC will all my heart and soul. Urang bilang Penyukung Susah Mati.

For me I am supporting Liverpool FC - the club. The Club is not about just one person, but the whole team. Players come and go. Say if Steven Gerrard opts to go to another club (touch wood!!!), though I idolised Stevie G, I will still support Liverpool FC. If you are a true supporter of a particular club and not just 'skin deep supporter' only, you will know what I mean.

Another example, to Man Utd fans, if C. Ronaldo go to Real Madrid, will you change allegiance and support Real Madrid? No, I don't think so. (unless you are supporting the player and not the club lah)

Now, if you say you don't don't want to fly the Jalur Gemilang because you don't like the current ruling Government because of some political reasons... I believe you are dead wrong man. Are you nuts for saying something like that? if you still believe that what you say is correct, then maybe you better go and change your citizenship, ASAP. Even the Opposition parties will not say such a thing. FGS, this is our country man!!

Just like supporting a football club (as I have explained earlier), feelings towards our Country is more or less the same (unless you are speaking about Malaysian footie team lah...). Our Country, is not about the ruling Government or even, perhaps, the Opposition Parties. Again, it's your country, FGS dude!!

Even the Penduduk Tempatan Istimewa are flying and waving the Jalur Gemilang with joy, which I saw with my own eyes last year. Why? Is it just for fun to them? or is it because because they really love their adopted country as they are living their 'dreams' here?

I know, I know, loving or showing your patriotism towards your country is not necessarily by flying the flags. But to those people who say "I don't don't want to fly the Jalur Gemilang because I don't like the current ruling Government"... please re-think your views dude...

Am I being patriotic this morning?  Just overheard people on the bus chatting on this matter, so I couldn't help to post my views here (Well, it would be a folly if I told them my views right on their face, aren't I.. hehe)
