I've experienced it when I was in KL for the first few months... but after I got use to using buses and learned the ways and 'shortcuts' around KL, no more taxis for me... hah!!

Ni semua tamak bah ni hombi. Tu ari sa pun terkena juga, mula2 bila mo masuk ok, tapi bila sampai lain pula, suda la sa ni yg jenis mo meghindari confrontation, so ambik la sa bilang...
When I used to go to college in Kuantan, I always stayed at my friend during the holidays bc didn't have money to fly to KK. She comes from a rich family so she just flew in from Kuantan to KL while I rode the bus to Puduraya then took taxi to her house in Subang Jaya. Berani lagi sia tu kadang2 sampai KL malam, berani naik teksi saturang. But I tell u one thing to beat these taxi drivers, even though you're from out of town, just act like you're local. It worked for me and I didn't know hell about KL. Nasib baik lah teda apa2 jadi. KL pi Subang tu jauh bah mau 40 minute drive tapi kan I got charged maybe RM20 and to me at the time it as okay b/c I didn't know my way around plus I was alone.
lab papa - di kk pun dorang mcm tu... hari tu sia betul2 urgent ke wisma sabah dari centrepoint, charge RM10... nasib urgent. biasa sia jalan kaki ja..
aza - you're right. just act like you're local... with a little bit with the 'slang'.. hehehe.. works for me also
sia pun pernah kena. not in KL but in Penang. was in a taxi when my dad called (of course kena cakap bahasa rumah la kan when u talk to family), so when i reached my destination the cabbie asked me for RM8 instead of RM4 shown in the meter. When i asked he simply said "biasalah, memang macam ni". I dont care, i just gave him RM4 and blah.

for me, sia memang fobia naik teksi alone... esp bila dengar berita pasal culik la rogol lah... so sia really fobia.. so i prefer to use LRT, monorail etc. Klu pi klia frm KL, sia just book klia taxi in advance suruh dtg ambik di hotel. And sia always inform my hb the taxi no in case ada anything happen ble lah cari tu taxe hehehehe... kadang2 saja kol hb masa dlm taxi kasitau no cab supaya tu cab driver dingar :)
Wah Rin, berani juga tu taxi driver charged ko lebih dari meter. Macam racist pula ni taxi drivers ni kan.

memang tu hombi..kalau sini kl memang teruk taxi driver dia..i prefer naik keritapi saja..hassle free..tia payah susah2 mau negotiate..
@aza, memang bah dorang taxi drivers ni. tau ja bukan local mesti mo charge mahal.
@hombi: actually takut juga the driver keluar from his taxi and kejar sia tapi nasibla nda jua heheheh...
