21 Guns..

Cool song from Green Day..

I always loved the way Green Day composed their songs.

I loved the melody progression of their songs. Most of all, they liked to combined acoustic and electric guitars. The riffs, climax and ending are to my liking. I consider Green Day’s compositions are “simple”. Well, at least that is what I think. If I go for bands like Helloween and Metallica, their composition are more complicated with combinations of riffs, solos etc. very very complicated.

I guess this is due to me not being ‘terrer’ in playing guitar. I learned on my own by watching other ‘sifus’ do it. I can never follow exactly how they do it, so I compensate by creating my own style based on what I see and learn.

Yes, I can never imitate them because I play “upside down left-handed” due to a ‘technical’ reason of my body parts. That’s why I can never learn how to do complicated solos or even other more advanced guitar fingering method.

But despite that, I am glad that I am able to play the guitar. Better than can’t play at all. Credits to my elder brother who guided me on how to do upside-down chords. He gave me the idea and I learned on my own and even perhaps perfected it with of course, my own style.

I was also lucky to have great friends who taught and shared with me over the years on how to play guitars. Of course they taught me in the ‘normal’ way and then I reverse it and create my own style, as I will not be able to follow 100%.

So after that, I dabbled in song composition. I never had any formal training though. I just hear, listen, watch, read and ask friends who knows. I loved heavy metal music but as I have said earlier, it’s too complicated to follow and also I don’t have proper knowledge. Then Green Day came. So I thought their music and song composition influence me one way or another.

However, believe it or not, most of my composed songs are spiritual Christian songs. I have quite a number of them composed over the years, enough to make an album. I have a few songs which are non-spiritual but they are what I consider ‘bida’ ha ha.

Well, once I am able to buy a proper electric guitar, I am going to composed some songs something like Green Day do.. ha ha ha.

And once my JJ old enough to learn, I am going to ask Lab Papa to teach him how to play drums. He likes to ‘ketuk ketuk’ the cans, containers etc in the house nowadays ha ha. Maybe he got what it takes to become a proper musician than his dad. Perhaps, I am going to buy him a kiddie drum soon.. I saw one in Toys ‘R us the other day.. haha

About Kadus Mama entry…

After reading Kadus Mama’s blog entry today, my heart was suddenly filled with anger. If I could and have the power, I would straight away run to Kadus Mama’s ‘rescue’ and ‘attack’ and ‘fight’ – for things not right need to be made right. I have always ‘fought for the just and right’. I don’t want to see other people to being marginalised, discriminated for being what they are, for what they believe.. Lucky God did not give me such power otherwise I will misuse it. Haha

But I calm down, breathe in and out, to give more oxygen to the brain due to being submerged by carbon dioxide ha ha ha. So I can think ‘straight’ and ‘normal’ again. I know this is just my ‘human nature’ – very quick to get angry – especially those kind of ‘unjust’ kind-of-thing happening around me.

I am no hero; I am no “rights” activist. I can’t fly over to Kadus Mama’s rescue like Superman or Ultraman for that matter. No, Ultraman will be too big, I will squash everything on sight and hurt innocent people..

I am not strong. Yes, I do have a brown belt in karate but karate did not teach its students to ‘go offensive’ but rather for use it for ‘self-defence’. Anyway, I learned karate not because of those two things but just for fun. I get to spar with my good friend Suresh and tease Ajay Chong. Though Donald Lim did give me good kick once in awhile. But it was fun. Yes, merely for fun.

Now I think normally…

It is very sad thing that there are people out there who are overzealous. Overzealous in their beliefs that they offend and hurt other people. Sometimes not in feelings but physically also. They are eager to hurt people of other religion, beliefs, race, culture etc. Sometimes too, being a zealot they are, they too offend people of their same religion, race, culture etc.

I can’t deny this is the reality we are facing in our everyday life. But I do believe that most people, if not all, are against all things that are not right or correct, especially in terms of religion and beliefs – faiths, as you may call them. Even atheist, do not simply wants to hurt or offend other people’s belief, IMHO.

Thus, acknowledging that this is the challenges of every day life, it disheartening and sad to read what Kadus Mama faced recently. We all have our own opinions. But judging from the response to her entries, all her friends condemn the act of the person concerned.

Of what we can do to the person who made Kadus mama ‘panasssss’.. Physically, I am not sure.

But hope that we can support her in prayers and through comments in her blogs.

You have your family around you. Let their love surround you and make you at ease from this “trials”. And of course, you can always turn to Him any time, any place… whenever you want it.. He is always there for you.

“A man reaps what he sows… let us not be weary for doing good, for the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up”

Be strong Kadus Mama…

“Arrrhghhhh.. there are zombies on my lawns!!!”

zombies

A few days ago, I got may hands on a game called “Plants vs Zombies”..

At first, it looks to be a very simple game to play but when you actually play it, it’s quite hard. You will need to make some kind of strategy in order to win the levels, which are getting harder and harder of course.

To play the game, you will have to plant your defenses (consisting of many types of plants like sunflowers, pea-shooter etc) on your lawns and swimming pools to prevent the zombies entering your house. If they manage to break your defences – they will eat your brains!! Ha ha ha..

What I like about this game is that it is very original and I have never played any games quite like it. The plants are cute and the zombies are funny. Some zombies are ex-American football player, ex-lawn mower man, ex-swimmer – when they are still alive, I believe.. he he he. They even have azombie in tribute to MJ – Mike Jackson that is. And some zombies says they like your tricycle. “We’re the undead”!!! they sang..

Well, you have to play it yourself to know.. but it’s sure is fun to play this game. Simple but not quite simple…

You should listen to the theme song. Go to here and download the mp3 – in English and Japanese version. It’s funny and I like the song too.. hahaha. The singer’s voice – Laura Shigihara – is cute..

I suggest you watch the promotional video to here to arouse your interest.

You can download the tiral game here but you can only play one-hour. You will need to purchase to play the full game.. he he he

So, happy playing, if you do play it anyway..

Solar Eclipse

Read about the solar eclipse here

Wow!! though we may not be directly under it’s path, i guess ada juga tempias-tempias kali he he he..

I believe Lab Papa will be ready with his gadget to record this rare occurrence. Just take note from this:-

"We'll have to wait a few hundred years for another opportunity to observe a solar eclipse that lasts this long, so it's a very special opportunity," said Shao Zhenyi, an astronomer at the Shanghai Astronomical Observatory.

See.. the scientist says a few hundred years!!!

In my lifetime up to now, I remember experiencing moon eclipse. I was very small then – maybe 4 –5 years old but I can still remember because the people in my kampong beat gongs and whatever they can use to ‘scare’ Talob.

Talob, in the Kadazandusun’s belief, or so the orang tua-tua says, is the culprit who cause the moon eclipse. Talob was a guy who never stops eating. He eat and eat and eat until his kampong ran out of anything to eat. So this wise guy Talob went berzerk and ate the moon.. nice guy indeed.

So, the kampong people had to chase him away by beating gongs or whatever items that can make loud noise..

Well, that’s a story told by mom when i experience the solar eclipse when I was a kid..

Anywany, I was wondering if there is a Kadazandusun story or myth about solar eclipse? I never did hear people beating gongs or anything when it occurs..

Well, can’t wait for tomorrow to experience the ‘tempias’… I guess people in Shanghai are very lucky to see it..

Nincompoops

Read this article first and you will be amazed..

I’ve decided to just delete my long write up earlier and just post this simple blog… as I will offend many people due my ‘hurt feelings’ caused by this two nincompoops…

They are a handful of people out there, like these two nincompoops, who have nothing better to do than ‘hurt’ the feelings of their fellow human being.. are we not human too??

FULL STOP!!
